Privacy Policy

Overview

SnapPage is a local-first Chrome extension for capturing full-page screenshots, editing them with built-in tools, and exporting as PNG, JPEG, or PDF. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

What We Store

  • ✓ Capture preferences — selected mode (full page / visible / selection), format (PNG/JPEG/PDF), quality
  • ✓ Capture counter — number of screenshots taken (used to show review prompt after 5 captures)

What We Do NOT Collect

  • ✗ No personal identifying information (name, email, address)
  • ✗ No screenshot content — images are processed in-memory and never stored or uploaded
  • ✗ No browsing history or visited URLs
  • ✗ No analytics or usage tracking data
  • ✗ No data sent to external servers
  • ✗ No OCR results are stored or transmitted

Data Storage

All data is stored locally using:

  • • Chrome Storage API — for capture preferences and counter
  • • Service Worker memory — captured screenshot data URL (cleared when service worker is inactive)

No data leaves your device. SnapPage has no server, no accounts, no cloud sync. Screenshots are captured, edited, and saved entirely in your browser.

Permissions Explained

activeTab Access the current tab to capture its visible content as a screenshot
scripting Inject scroll-and-capture logic for full-page screenshots and selection overlay
downloads Save screenshots to your Downloads folder
tabs Read tab URL and title for smart file naming (domain_title_date.png)
storage Save your capture preferences (mode, format, quality) locally
unlimitedStorage Handle very large full-page screenshots without hitting storage limits

Third-Party Services

SnapPage does not use any third-party services and does not share your data with anyone. OCR (text extraction) is performed entirely locally using Tesseract.js — no data is sent to any server.

Data Deletion

Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data. You can also clear extension data via Chrome Settings > Extensions > SnapPage > Details > Clear data.

Children's Privacy

SnapPage is not intended for children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
