Overview

LinkViz is a local-first Chrome extension that highlights dofollow, nofollow, sponsored, and UGC links on any webpage. We are committed to protecting your privacy. LinkViz makes zero network requests and all analysis happens entirely in your browser.

What We Store

  • ✓ Highlighting preferences — enabled/disabled state, highlight style, color choices
  • ✓ Per-domain toggle states — which websites have highlighting on or off
  • ✓ Session counter — number of times the popup has been opened (for review prompt timing)

What We Do NOT Collect

  • ✗ No personal identifying information (name, email, address)
  • ✗ No browsing history or visited URLs
  • ✗ No page content or link data
  • ✗ No analytics or usage tracking sent to external servers
  • ✗ No cookies or fingerprinting
  • ✗ No data transmitted over the network — ever

Data Storage

All data is stored locally using:

  • • Chrome Storage Sync API — for settings (synced between your devices via your Google account)
  • • Chrome Storage Local API — for anonymous analytics events (never transmitted)

No data leaves your device. LinkViz has no server, no accounts, no cloud sync beyond Chrome's built-in storage sync. Link analysis results are never stored — they exist only while you view the page.

Permissions Explained

storage Save your highlighting preferences, color settings, and per-domain toggle states locally
activeTab Access the current tab to analyze and highlight links when you click the extension icon
scripting Inject the link analysis script into web pages to detect and color-code links
host_permissions (<all_urls>) Content script needs access to all pages to analyze links on any website you visit

Third-Party Services

LinkViz does not use any third-party services, APIs, or SDKs. It does not share your data with anyone.

Data Deletion

Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data. You can also clear extension data via Chrome Settings > Extensions > LinkViz > Details > Clear data.

Children's Privacy

LinkViz is not intended for children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
